Next generation BMW M3 will focus on weight loss and discontinues V8s

It is heard that the upcoming BMW M3 will be discontinuing V8 engines and go back to turbocharging in line six engines. That will make it potentially lighter by 135 kg.

I guess this is in line with the market trend these days to downsize the engine and put in turbochargers. The benefit would be that the torque will be up from 400Nm to 535Nm.

Lets see how much more mean the M3 would be in the future.
