Well since this will be my first posting about cars, the best thing to write about would be my dear Nissan Altima SSS (Super Sports Saloon) which I drive it everywhere I go. I got this car 4 years ago and I had the same thoughts as some of you readers, “what in the world car is a Nissan Altima?” I started to ask around and some of my friends say it’s a Nissan Bluebird. Man this Bluebird is old man! When I was schooling I remember seeing bluebirds around and they are a squarish looking and I would say very uncool. You may have seen it as a taxi around Malaysia if you go to the old towns.

The day had come when I had my first look of the Nissan Altima 1997 model (also known as Bluebird, U13, Attessa SSS (Australia)) and well I liked it. Then I started to pop the boot and wow it has a SR20DE twin cam on it. I fell in love with it soon after when I took it for a spin and I use to drive a TOYOTA Corona 1.8 XL, the SR20DE is like nothing I have experienced at that time. I always wanted to get a S15 Silvia but I guess due to my budget I think I would be happy with the Altima’s SR20DE without the turbo. This car was in moderate condition with some scratches here and there but I would think its fine. I seen lots of forums on the net and not many people liked the shape of the car and maybe that’s why Tan Chong Motors (The Nissan Distributor in Malaysia) did not bring this car in. I got this car from my dad’s friend’s brother in law, which worked in Tan Chong Motors and was a company car, which is imported from Japan, which explains the leather seats and steering.

Full leather seats with Clarion sound system (I have changed it to a Kenwood coz the old one does not have mp3 capabilities); man the steering wheel is leather as well. I pretty good deal I would say.  I did not do much to the car coz there is nothing much to do to it. The rimes are standard 14 “ with 70 series tires. There is one thing I don’t like about the car is the back which I would think it dips too much. I have fixed that eyesore with an Advan (is a US based company) back spoiler and man it looks much better now. For the fuel consumption, it’s average for a 2.0 litres that would make around 450km (I am a little heavy on the throttle). I like this car a lot due to its power and pick up, owning this car means you don’t have to fear any car of it’s range except for the Honda Civic VTEC (with the Big VTEC). I was smoked by one which I would thin he had a spoon engine on it and man that was scary. Other then that I would think any NA cars 2.0 or below should not be a problem (well it’s a subjective statement and I have not tried on a drag race before). The 1997 Altima is the last batch of its kind. A new design was introduced in 1998, which I was a little disappointed with the design.

About the Author

When I was a little younger, I never had the interest in cars at all. Somehow it picked it up when I was in high school and oh yeah did I mention my dad and brother loves cars as well? I am more of a Japanese Car lover then any other car but don’t get me wrong I like the rest as well. Let’s just say that Jap cars are the first on my list. Drifting, racing circuits and rallying, these are the thing that I love to do but I can’t! Well let’s just say I don’t have the skills for these kind of things. So the only thing I do is occasionally drive fast on the road when I am provoked by a much slower car or in par. "All you need to see is my tail light" turboturtle
